Double Bachelor Degree in Economics and International Relations (graduated First in Class & Magna Cum Laude) from the Faculty of Economics at Boston University. Master in Economic Policy and PhD candidate from Oxford University and MBA from M.I.T.
He has developed his professional career as an Associate Consultant at the British strategy consultancy L.E.K. Consulting (working in London, Chicago and Milan 1999-2001), Senior Analyst in the Department of Corporate Strategy of Telefónica (Madrid 2001-2003), Analyst in the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the UN (New York 2004), Deputy Director to the CEO at the Guascor Group (Bilbao 2005-2011) and later at Dresser-Rand (Houston & Bilbao 2011-15) first as Strategy Director of the Renewable Energies Unit, taking over the global management of the Strategy & Development Department Corporate of this energy sector multinational from February 2013 to May 2015.
In August 2015 Asier began his career in the Basque public sector. First as Director of Foreign Promotion in the Regoinal Government of Biscay, and then as Director of Strategic Projects until October 2020.
In November 2020 he became the Director of the new Global Development area of the Basque Culinary Center, in charge of directing the internationalization of the center and the expansion of the BCC as a global actor in new áreas, creating new formulas for all stakeholders (corporates, entrepreneurs, researchers, talent and other global players) to such as the CA! Global Foodtech Accelerator programme, the Gastronomy Open Ecosystem (GOe) Project or new funding ventures.
He speaks four languages and enjoys reading, writing and storytelling (theater, cinema...) in all its forms.
