Alberto Beretta

Alberto Beretta, MD PhD Immunologist
After his MD degree and specialization in clinical immunology, he completed his PhD in basic immunology at the Karolinska Institute of Stockholm. He was associate professor for 8 years at the Pasteur Institute in Paris and the Pierre & Marie Curie University, serving also as a visiting professor at Queens College (NY). During these years he participated in the ground breaking research of Nobel Prize Luc Montagnier in the immunobiology of HIV infection with a contribution to the understanding of the genetic basis of resistance to infection. He then continued his research, as head of a research unit at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, in the biological basis of immunosenescence. These years of experience in translational research, working at the interface between preclinical and clinical research, culminated in a unique application of research directed towards the central role of the immune system in ageing. In 2018, with the aim of translating the most recent discoveries on the biology of ageing to the clinical practice of longevity medicine, he founded the biotech company Solongevity (‘Science of Longevity’). In 2024, with the mission of facilitating scientific advances on healthy ageing, he founded the Solongevity Foundation. He is now the President of the scientific committee of the Milan Longevity Summit.
