Day 2: Redesigning Systems & Governance
11:00 - 12:00
STAGE: HUMANITY
PEOPLE & SOCIETY
Cities and Longevity: A Pact for the Future
Curated Dialogue
Infrastructure & Cities
Can cities develop adaptivity like any other organism?
We are not talking about adaptability, a term with a generally passive connotation, but about direct
action aimed at making cities consistent with the longevity curve, which is destined to keep
growing.
And this regardless of whether or not there are environmental conditions suitable for bringing birth
rates—objectively in crisis today—back to desirable levels.
Cities, whose growth is regulated by master plans that are immutable over time, are increasingly
being asked to flexibly manage “coexistence” needs that are ever more changeable over time.
The ways services are delivered, as well as the responses given to the need making housing
availability suitable for accommodating people fully entered the Q3 of their lives, are constantly
evolving.
The city must position itself as an enabling element in response to these pressures, making
infrastructures functional to a constant reconfigurability, enabled by technologies and open to
social innovation, including within this a real and concrete capacity for impact.
A foundational moment for a new way of understanding citizenship. Active, participatory,
collaborative - in a word, evolutionary - laying the groundwork for a renewed manifesto, providing
new direction and new momentum.
The roundtable will begin with Marcello Coppa presenting the results of a research study on
longevity conducted by Feel*
