Director of the Cell Transplant and Regenerative Medicine Center at the University of Miami Diabetes Research Institute. Leader in diabetes cure-focused research, cell transplantation, and regenerative medicine, invented the technology for large-scale isolation of pancreatic islets, now used worldwide, and performed the first successful islet allotransplants. In addition to diabetes, his interests include Immune Tolerance, Healthspan and Regenerative Biotherapeutics for prevention and treatment of acute and age-related diseases, to extend healthy lifespan. Recipient of >100 honors/awards, authored >1,250 publications cited >64,000 times (H-index 122), holds 28 patents, and recently published The Healthspan Code and Therapeutic Revolution.
