Christine Brown

Head, European Office for Investment for Health and Development

Christine (Chris) Brown is Head of the WHO European Office for Investment for Health and Development, based in Venice, Italy. She leads a multidisciplinary team supporting European health networks, national authorities, and partners in implementing social, economic, gender, and rights-based policies for health equity. She manages the WHO European Regional Health Equity Status Initiative and leads the WHO/Europe Universal Wellbeing Economy Initiative, building cross-sector alliances for recovery and development plans. Chris is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Global Leader in Health Equity and a Visiting Professor at Glasgow Caledonian University. Prior to WHO, she spent over a decade with the Danish Development Agency on large-scale health and sustainable livelihoods projects, and worked as a public health expert in the UK in regional and national health authority roles.
