Lars Hartenstein

Lars Hartenstein is a co-founder and Director of Healthy Longevity at the McKinsey Health Institute (MHI), a global, non-profit-generating institute within McKinsey & Company, based in Paris. With over 20 years of experience in global health, life sciences, and impact finance, he co-founded MHI and previously co-founded and co-led McKinsey's European Social Sector Hub. His work focuses on historically under-invested areas of health, in particular healthy longevity and metabolic health. He is the lead author of MHI's major 2025 report on healthspan science and biomedical innovation in aging, estimating that tackling even half the age-related disease burden could add $2 trillion to global GDP. He is a Senior Fellow at MHI and a partner in McKinsey's Paris office, and has authored numerous articles and reports receiving over one million reads.
