Associate Professor of Pharmacology

Marta Fumagalli is Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Milan. She holds an MSc in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology and a PhD in Pharmacology.
With over 20 years of research experience across academic roles, her work focuses on therapeutic strategies targeting oligodendrocyte progenitors and microglial senescence to promote myelin repair and halt neurodegeneration in neurological diseases such as brain ischemia and ALS. This research integrates advanced experimental models and imaging tecniques, and develops translational approaches combining human glial models, patient samples, and omics technologies to support the identification of CNS-derived biomarkers and the development of personalized therapies. She has secured competitive funding and is actively involved in teaching and mentoring undergraduate, PhD, and postdoctoral researchers.
