Odd Nikolas Hanssen

Odd Nikolas Hanssen is a Norwegian development and health economist specialising in health financing, health taxes, and universal health coverage. He has worked extensively with the World Health Organization's Department of Health Systems Governance and Financing, contributing to landmark Lancet publications on financing transformative health systems and projecting resource needs for achieving the health Sustainable Development Goals. He is currently contributing to the Tax for SDGs Initiative at UNDP, where he focuses on health taxes, fiscal policy, and sustainable development finance. His work includes cost-benefit analyses of health interventions, investment cases for health security, and the economics of fossil fuel taxation and its health impacts.
