Alessia Catania

She is a Medical Doctor with a Specialist Degree in Medicine and Surgery, a Board Certification in Neurology, and a PhD in Translational and Molecular Medicine (DIMET). Her clinical and research work focuses on neurology, neurogenetics, and neurodegenerative diseases, combining academic expertise with extensive experience in both hospital and research settings.

Since July 2025, she has been a Neurologist at the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research IRCCS. From August 2023 to March 2025, she worked as a Neurologist at the Carlo Besta Neurological Institute IRCCS in the Neurology 8 Unit, dedicated to dementias and degenerative disorders of the central nervous system. She has also been practicing as a General Neurologist in private practice since 2019.
Her earlier roles include serving as a Neurologist in the Medical Genetics and Neurogenetics Unit at the Carlo Besta Neurological Institute IRCCS (from 2018 onward).

She is fluent in English and French and has strong digital skills, including MS Office, communication platforms, internet research, and basic statistical software.

She is the author of 25 peer‑reviewed international publications and has participated in numerous national and international conferences in the fields of neurogenetics and neurodegenerative diseases. She has also served as an investigator in multiple clinical trials, contributing to the advancement of research and patient care in neurology.
