Andrea Castagnetti is General Manager and Co-founder of Wellmicro S.r.l., an Italian biotech founded in 2015 as a University of Bologna spin-off, specialised in metagenomic analysis of gut, vaginal and environmental microbiota. Since 2021 Wellmicro has been part of Named Group, an Italian hub of natural health excellence.
He holds a PhD in Molecular Biotechnology from the University of Siena (2014), with prior academic and industrial experience at the University of Bologna, Novartis and the Lions Eye Institute (LEI), before co-founding Wellmicro.
At Wellmicro he leads the strategic and scientific direction, guiding research and innovation activities in the microbiome field through a functional, multi-cohort approach aimed at translating scientific evidence into next-generation diagnostic solutions.
